And the Winner Is… Anyone But Jack Ciattarelli

Jack Ciattarelli’s losing streak continued this week, with a report from the New Jersey Globe highlighting how he lost the Mercer County Republican Party’s straw poll to talk radio host Bill Spadea – despite the fact that Spadea “did not compete in Mercer, which makes his first-place finish even more impressive.”

This is New Jersey Republican voters’ latest rebuke of Ciattarelli as Spadea continues to gain ground across the state. Just last week, Spadea won the endorsement of the Ocean County GOP – “the highest GOP voter base in the state, making up 12% of New Jersey’s Republican electorate, “by a wide margin of 129-83.”

This primary has been “heated, nasty, and dripping with contempt” since early last year, and multi-candidate appearances have garnered comparisons to a cage match. That only worsened last week when Spadea released a new ad touting Donald Trump’s support, and knocking Ciattarelli for his lack of loyalty to the president. And while a super PAC supporting Spadea has also taken aim at Ciattarelli in ads, calling him a “loser” and a “RINO,” Ciattarelli hasn’t held back either, launching a spoof website accusing Spadea of being “phony MAGA.”

“Jack Ciattarelli’s losing streak continues, with Republican voters in Mercer County going out of their way to back anyone but him – even if they weren’t on the ballot,” said DGA Campaign Communications Advisor Emma O’Brien. “Unfortunately for New Jersey families, there’s only one endorsement these candidates are really after: Donald Trump’s. While the Republicans candidates fail to offer solutions to some of the state’s toughest challenges, and as the MAGA bloodbath rages on, they are all making clear exactly why they’re wrong to be New Jersey’s governor.”
