AG Josh Stein Ends Rape Kit Backlog in North Carolina

Yesterday, Attorney General and Democratic nominee for Governor Josh Stein announced the end of North Carolina’s backlog of untested sexual assault kits, representing an incredible step towards survivor justice that he’s made a core priority since 2017 when he entered office.

Thanks to his efforts, nearly 12,000 state kits have been tested or are in the process of being tested.

Stein stated: “Most importantly, I thank the victims for their bravery in submitting the evidence so we can hold their rapists accountable. Today’s excellent news is the result of an impressive team effort, but our work doesn’t end now.
