Abigail Spanberger Wins Endorsement of Virginia Police Group That Has Backed Republicans in Last Three Governor’s Races

Today, the Virginia Police Benevolent Association, which represents nearly 11,000 Virginia law enforcement officers and has backed the Republican nominees in the last three races for governor, endorsed Abigail Spanberger, applauding her strong, bipartisan record of backing law enforcement and keeping families safe.

This is also a major snub to Winsome Sears, who “won the PBA’s endorsement in 2021 in the race for her current position” and did not “respond to a request for comment.”

In the group’s endorsement, Virginia Police Benevolent Association President Joe Woloszyn praised Spanberger’s “deep, expert-level knowledge of the unique challenges facing Virginia’s law enforcement officers,” and her “goal of building trust across our communities and working towards a safer, stronger Commonwealth.”

Spanberger was also recently recognized by the National Fraternal Order of Police for her work to pass the bipartisan Social Security Fairness Act.
