Suspect on FBI Wanted List for Insurrection Poses with Likely PA Gov Candidate Doug Mastriano at Fundraiser with Rudy Giuliani
We can’t say we didn’t see this one coming
Unsurprisingly, at a campaign event for far-right insurrectionist and potential Republican candidate for Pennsylvania governor Doug Mastriano, co-host Rudy Giuliani, whose house was just raided by the FBI, was not the only person in attendance caught up in federal criminal investigations. A report from Huffpost revealed that a suspect wanted by the FBI for his role in the January 6th insurrection that left five people dead posed for pictures with Mastriano at the event.
Like the FBI suspect, Mastriano was also present at the January 6th attack, as his campaign paid thousands to bus people to the U.S. Capitol.
After the event this past weekend, Mastriano bragged about Giuliani’s name on his event roster and his proximity to Trump saying it was “fantastic” to get Giuliani’s endorsement and that Giuliani was “speaking to the 45 about me as well, which is great.” Mastriano also touted an apparent one-on-one meeting with Trump recently, where the pair discussed Trump’s false conspiracy theories about how the election was stolen.
This is just the latest example of how Trump’s right-wing agenda has an iron grip on the PA GOP and the crowded Republican primary for governor, which also includes Joe Gale and Lou Barletta, who are staunch supporters of the Big Lie and die-hard Trump loyalists.
“Whether it’s hosting events with FBI suspects or paying to bus people to the deadly insurrection on January 6th, Doug Mastriano is desperate to do anything to prove his loyalty to Donald Trump and his criminal cronies. In fact, as we noted before this event happened, it wouldn’t have been surprising if the FBI decided they needed to make an appearance at this far-right fundraiser,” said DGA Deputy Communications Director Sam Newton. “This event is just another piece of concrete evidence in the case of the Trumpification of the Pennsylvania GOP, whose primary is guaranteed to be a contest for the loyalty of Donald Trump and his harmful policies.“
