Rauner In Damage Control Mode as Lies and Failures Pile Up
Bruce Rauner found himself playing double duty on the damage control front yesterday. While spending the night in the state-run Quincy Veterans’ Home where 13 people died on his watch, Bruce Rauner called into a radio station to refute spin from his “political opponents and the media” about one of his many lies. A Bloomington-Normal radio host took issue with Rauner repeatedly lying about a local car factory he claimed no one wanted to occupy, even though the Governor personally attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for new occupants last year:
Rauner’s frantic damage control on local radio didn’t stop brutal stories from appearing in the State Journal-Register or airing on WEEK in Peoria.
“Bruce Rauner is running around, desperately trying to explain his way out of his many lies and failures,” said DGA Illinois Communications Director Sam Salustro. “No matter how hard Rauner tries, he cannot explain away his three years of failed leadership that has made left Illinois in worse shape.”
