New Poll Shows Washingtonians Overwhelmingly Approve Of Gov. Jay Inslee’s Leadership

Crosscut/Elway Poll Shows 75% of Washington Voters Approve of Inslee’s Virus Response, 76% Believe Stay Home, Stay Healthy Initiatives Are Working

Today, a new Crosscut/Elway poll showed that the overwhelming majority of Washington state voters approve of Gov. Jay Inslee’s leadership during the COVID-19 crisis while less than half approved of President Trump’s leadership. In addition, 76% of voters believe the restrictions and precautions enacted by Inslee’s administration have worked to control the virus – including the majority of Republicans.
Gov. Inslee has worked tirelessly to protect Washingtonians from the COVID-19 pandemic and its economic consequences. He suspended utility shut-offs, instituted a moratorium on evictions, launched a fund for food banks, and provided grants for small businesses. Gov. Inslee also joined the Western States Pact to create a regional reopening approach with Oregon and California.
This is now the fourth poll in the last month that has shown high approval of Governor Inslee’s response: March 30: 67% Survey USA, April 1: 74% Microsoft Research and April 15: 62% Crosscut.
“Governor Inslee’s strong leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic is a reflection of his experience and the trust his constituents have in him,” said DGA National Press Secretary Jerusalem Demsas. “He has worked to defend Washingtonians from the pandemic by easing financial burdens on individuals and small businesses and instituting protections for vulnerable populations and high risk workers. Governor Inslee has set an example for the rest of the country on how to handle the pandemic and future crises.”
