Matt Bevin Melts Down – Again
Unstable and unpopular governor attacks the press
Yesterday, Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin went on an unhinged Facebook rant attacking the state’s largest newspaper, the Louisville Courier-Journal, for investigating a state-run agency.
It’s no wonder that the scandal-plagued governor is worried. Already, he has been exposed for giving a $215,000 taxpayer-funded raise to a friend–a move that received criticism from both sides of the aisle. His record is littered with stories of corrupt behavior, including a shady deal involving an investment banker, an undervalued home, and a political appointment.
The attack on Kentucky’s largest newspaper is just the latest meltdown for Governor Bevin. This spring, he bizarrely blamed teachers for the sexual abuse of children.
Amid scandal and unstable behavior, Bevin’s poll numbers have dropped. A staggering 55 percent of Kentuckians disapprove of Bevin, making him one of the most unpopular governors in the country.
“If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it’s usually a duck,” said DGA Communications Director Jared Leopold. “Matt Bevin is acting like a governor with something to hide – and it’s because he has left a trail of corruption and self-dealing in his 3 years as governor. Matt Bevin is unpopular and flailing, and his unhinged attack on the Kentucky media won’t change his record of failure.”
