DGA Sets New Record By Raising Over $43.5M In 2019
Record-setting fundraising marks a 44 percent increase of total money raised over 2015
Today, the Democratic Governors Association (DGA) announced the organization raised over $43.5 million across all entities in 2019, a new record for this fundraising year. Our fundraising was critical to our success in Louisiana and Kentucky where our strategic investments helped re-elect Gov. John Bel Edwards and elect Gov. Andy Beshear.
In 2015, the DGA raised $30 million across all entities. This fundraising year marks a 44 percent increase in the organization’s fundraising. Major and grassroots donors powered this new record.
The DGA is already seeing returns on our increased investment in our digital program. This year had a 58 percent increase of total grassroots money raised compared to 2015. The average online gift was $15.78.
“Democrats are on offense heading into 2020,” said DGA Executive Director Noam Lee. “After investing a historic amount to win in ruby-red Louisiana and Kentucky, the DGA proved Democrats can compete anywhere. This year’s record-breaking fundraising under Governor Raimondo’s leadership put the DGA in a great position to build on this momentum in 2020 under Governor Phil Murphy.”
