Jared Polis
Governor of Colorado
Gov. Jared Polis was sworn in as Colorado’s governor on January 8, 2019.
During his tenure as Governor, he has expanded early childhood education and economic opportunities, lowered healthcare costs, and established an ambitious transition to renewable energy by 2040.
Gov. Polis, a Colorado native, earned his BA from Princeton University. An accomplished entrepreneur, Gov. Polis launched three successful companies by the age of 30. His innovative business career earned him “Entrepreneur of the Year” from Ernst and Young. Following his business ventures, Gov. Polis focused on ensuring greater opportunities and access for Coloradans’ entrepreneurship goals. He co-founded Techstars and Patriot Boot Camp, organizations aimed at providing mentorship to entrepreneurs and assisting veterans in starting small businesses, respectively. Gov. Polis’s philanthropic background is also focused on education – fighting for improved teacher pay.
Prior to serving as governor, Gov. Polis was the U.S. Representative for Colorado’s Second Congressional District. As a congressman, he successfully worked across the aisle to improve public schools, support startups and small businesses, and protect public lands. He was ranked as one of the most effective members of Colorado’s Congressional Delegation.
Gov. Polis lives in Boulder with his partner Marlon and their two children.
