Every State, Every Vote Co-Chairs Gov. Kate Brown and Stacey Abrams Hold Press Call with Stand Up America to Urge Congress to Fully Fund Vote-By-Mail
Today, Every State, Every Vote Co-Chairs Oregon Gov. Kate Brown and Stacey Abrams held a press call with Stand Up America President Sean Eldridge to demand that Congress provide $4 billion in election assistance to the states.
While Congress has already approved $400 million in election assistance funding, that’s simply not enough to make our elections safe, fair, and accessible during the coronavirus pandemic. That’s why the Every State, Every Vote Co-Chairs are demanding that the next coronavirus response package provide the additional funding states need to implement vote-by-mail, guarantee no-excuse absentee voting, provide safe in-person voting opportunities, increase early voting, and expand online and same-day registration nationwide.
Every State, Every Vote Co-Chair Oregon Gov. Kate Brown: “As the fabric of our society is being ripped apart, it is important that the foundation of our democracy remains strong. As co-chair of Every State, Every Vote I’m doing everything I can to help other governors with their states and initiatives, and I’m working with them to eliminate confusion and chaos at the polls this November.”
Every State, Every Vote Co-Chair Stacey Abrams: “I’m proud to partner with Governor Kate Brown and the Democratic Governors Association with Every State, Every Vote. Today we are focusing on the role that Congress must play in our upcoming elections. As the governor pointed out, we need Congress to act decisively so voters do not have to choose between their health and their democracy.”
