VIDEO: Gov. Kate Brown Speaks Out, Knute Buehler Still Silent on Kavanaugh

Latest News

Yesterday, Governor Kate Brown continued her advocacy on behalf of Oregonian women by speaking out against Judge Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination. Meanwhile, her opponent Knute Buehler has failed to say anything about the allegations against Kavanaugh or the threat his nomination poses to women across the country.
Buehler has spent his campaign for governor desperately attempting to cover up his real record of voting against women’s rights and health care. Just last year, Buehler voted against protecting access to the full range of reproductive health services and no-cost contraception. And more recently he was caught bragging on conservative talk radio about his record of voting against Governor Brown’s efforts on women’s health.
At yesterday’s event with Planned Parenthood and NARAL as well as members of Oregon’s congressional delegation, Governor Brown spoke out forcefully against Kavanaugh’s nomination and her opponent’s cowardice.
Video of her remarks is HERE, and a transcript of them is below.

Governor Brown: “Oregon voters know that I do what I say and I say what I do. And you can trust that when the federal government is trying to trample on our rights, I’ll stand up and fight back.
I’m disappointed that you can’t say the same thing for my opponent, who has been silent since Kavanaugh was nominated in July about the danger his appointment poses to women’s rights.
We need to send the White House a clear message. The days when being a woman was a pre-existing condition should be over.
And turning back the clock and taking away the rights of women across this country will not be tolerated.
Not. On. Our. Watch.”
