Would VA-GOV Candidates Raise Rates on Pre-existing Conditions?

RGA Chair Scott Walker announces he’d explore waivers, would VA GOPers follow their top donor?

If the American Health Care Act becomes law, Virginia’s governor in 2019 will make the critical decision of whether to request a waiver allowing insurance companies to raise rates on Virginians with pre-existing conditions.
Now, the question turns to Ed Gillespie, Frank Wagner and Corey Stewart: Would the GOP nominee accept a waiver that could increase costs for 1,344,000 Virginians with pre-existing conditions?
None of them are saying.
But, their likely largest donor, Republican Governors Association Chair Scott Walker, said on Friday that he would explore a waiver if re-elected as governor of Wisconsin. The RGA has publicly touted its purported $5 million investment in the Virginia governor’s race.
“Virginians deserve to know if they’re at risk of skyrocketing health care premiums,” said DGA Communications Director Jared Leopold. “Will Ed Gillespie, Corey Stewart or Frank Wagner follow their biggest donor in exploring a waiver to jack up rates for Virginians with pre-existing conditions? It’s time for Republicans running for governor to come clean with the people of Virginia on where they stand.”
