Mississippi GOP Hosts A Unity Event…When Reeves Is Tearing The Party Apart
The Mississippi Republican Party is hosting a unity event. Only problem is…Tate Reeves is tearing the MS GOP apart.
After a divisive primary thanks to Reeves, gubernatorial candidate Bill Waller refused to endorse him. Waller disagreed with Reeves on Medicaid reform, teacher pay, and infrastructure.
GOP Lt. Gov. nominee Hosemann refused to endorse Reeves. Hosemann disagrees with Reeves on Medicaid reform, teacher pay, and infrastructure and criticized Reeves for his heavy-handed and partisan leadership style in the state legislature.
Reeves doesn’t seem to care just how off-putting he is to members of his own party. He’s even said, “I have absolutely no concern with isolating myself from anybody.”
And it’s mutual. Nothing unites gubernatorial candidates in Mississippi like attacking Tate Reeves.
So we just have some questions ahead of this so-called unity event today:
- Why isn’t Bill Waller at the unity event?
- Is the party worried about other prominent Republicans staying on the sidelines because of Reeves’ divisiveness?
- Does GOP Lt. Gov. nominee Hosemann support Tate Reeves?
- How would Hosemann see working with Reeves on issues like Medicaid reform, teacher pay, and infrastructure if he is elected lieutenant governor?
