Malloy, Inslee, Cuomo Statement on Trump Cancellation of Health Care CSRs

DGA Chair Gov. Dan Malloy (D-CT), DGA Vice Chair Gov. Jay Inslee (D-WA), and DGA Policy Chair Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) released the following joint statement on the Trump administration’s decision to end market-stabilizing CSR payments:
“President Trump’s decision to end critical cost-sharing reduction payments is cruel and indefensible,” said Malloy, Inslee, and Cuomo. “This is a clear attempt to sabotage the health care system – and millions of Americans will pay the price. This decision will cause premiums to increase by 20% for millions of Americans and will cause 1 million people to lose health care coverage in the near-term, according to the CBO.
“This sabotage has real impacts on the families in our states: they will face higher premiums, lost coverage and skyrocketing costs for people with pre-existing conditions. All governors – and gubernatorial candidates – should stand up and be counted in opposing President Trump’s reckless decision. And Congress must take action now to stabilize the markets before more people get hurt by this disastrous decision.”
