Govs Get It Done: Gov. Gretchen Whitmer Fights for Overtime Pay for Michigan Workers

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer: “Strengthening paychecks is good for families, good for business, and good for our economy.”

Democratic Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer today announced that she had directed the state’s Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity to establish rules to increase the salary threshold under which employers must pay overtime to their workers.

Whitmer’s new rule would close that gap by raising the threshold to the original $51,000 mark.
