Fung and Morgan Fail on Gun Violence Prevention

Latest News

Governor Gina Raimondo released a new ad this week that highlights her leadership in keeping guns out of the hands of domestic abusers, and the contrast between her and her Republican opponents could not be more clear. Candidates Mayor Allan Fung and Minority Leader Patricia Morgan have both been abject failures when it comes to keeping Rhode Islanders safe from gun violence.
Neither Fung nor Morgan have put forward any solutions that would help end the scourge of gun violence. In fact, Morgan even voted last year against the bill Raimondo signed to bar those convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence from owning guns. Fung, as is his usual approach, did not speak out on that bill. Though he did admit earlier this year that he doesn’t support taking action to protect Rhode Islanders from gun violence.
“While Governor Raimondo has been a leader on protecting Rhode Islanders by keeping guns out of dangerous hands, Allan Fung and Patricia Morgan have failed,” said Democratic Governors Association Press Secretary Melissa Miller. “Rhode Island families need a governor who will work to keep them safe, and it’s clear Fung and Morgan are cowards who won’t do that.”
