DGA Statement Regarding Tonight's Virginia Governor's Debate

WASHINGTON, DC—Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin, Chair of the Democratic Governors Association, issued the following statement regarding tonight’s Virginia governor’s debate:

“Tonight, Virginia voters saw Ken Cuccinelli for who he really is: a desperate candidate willing to say anything to rescue a political career that’s been devoted entirely to a radical ideological agenda. Between his false and flailing attacks, Cuccinelli spent his time pandering to the far-right Tea Party forces who are keeping his campaign afloat instead of speaking to the issues that matter most to middle-class families. Voters saw that Terry McAuliffe is the only candidate with a clear, mainstream vision for how to create jobs, improve schools, and rebuild infrastructure across the Commonwealth. Fortunately for the people of Virginia, in less than two weeks, he’ll be elected their governor.”
