DGA Statement on Terry McAuliffe Becoming the Democratic Nominee for Governor of Virginia

Tonight, DGA Chair New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham released the following statement on Terry McAuliffe’s primary victory in Virginia:

“Congratulations to Terry McAuliffe on his victory tonight in Virginia. Terry is a proven leader with a track record of delivering results for Virginians. Throughout his time as governor, Terry implemented bold initiatives to create good-paying jobs and expand economic opportunity across the Commonwealth. Now, as Virginia rebuilds following the pandemic, Terry will work as governor to create an economy that works for all Virginians and uplift those who have been hit the hardest.”

“The DGA looks forward to helping elect Terry as governor of Virginia once again, and the stakes could not be higher. Glenn Youngkin is an extreme, far-right, Trump-backed Republican set on ripping up the progress that Virginia has made in the last eight years. Terry repeatedly took on a right-wing legislature to stand up for Virginians, and we know he’ll stop Youngkin from bringing Trump’s policies and politics to the Commonwealth. The choice in this election could not be clearer, and Virginians know Terry will have their back as governor.”
