DGA Chair New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy today released the following statement on Speaker Pelosi and Senate Democratic Leader Schumer’s selection of Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer to deliver the Democratic Response to President Trump’s State of the Union address. The response will be delivered on Tuesday, February 4th.
“I am incredibly proud that Governor Whitmer has been selected to deliver the Democratic response to the State of the Union address. Speaker Pelosi and Minority Leader Schumer’s selection is clear recognition of the important work Governor Whitmer is doing for the great State of Michigan. From her work providing access to safe drinking water to improving public education to increasing skills training opportunities, Governor Whitmer is building a stronger Michigan that works for everyone. She’s showing the country what can be accomplished under Democratic leadership.
