DGA Releases New Video Highlighting Dan Forest’s Ties To Extreme Protesters ReOpen NC

Today, the Democratic Governors Association released a new video highlighting Republican gubernatorial nominee Dan Forest’s ties to extreme protesters.
Protesters in North Carolina were seen verbally assaulting frontline workers and law enforcement in startling video footage. Dan Forest has openly encouraged this group’s efforts and has spread misinformation about the severity of the crisis, at one point spreading the dangerous lie that the flu had killed more people than COVID-19. 
Recent polling shows “more than 75% of respondents support Gov. Cooper’s extension of the stay-at-home order until May 8. That majority support included people from different political parties, all age groups, rural and urban communities and those with low and high incomes, according to the poll.”
“Dan Forest has repeatedly spread misinformation and undermined North Carolina’s public health response during this crisis,” said DGA National Press Secretary Jerusalem Demsas. “It’s clear now that he is also encouraging the dangerous and ill-guided actions of the ReOpen NC protesters who have verbally assaulted frontline workers and law enforcement. His decision to side with a vocal minority over the vast majority of the state that supports the bipartisan efforts of Gov. Roy Cooper is a transparent effort to boost his flailing campaign.”
