DGA Releases ‘Mike Pence: My Next Chapter’

DGA looks to Kevin Durant to help explain Pence’s decision to beg for VP nod

Parody letter to Hoosiers: ‘Thank you Indiana, for being my stepping stone’

Today, the Democratic Governors Association wrote a parody letter on behalf of Gov. Mike Pence to help explain his desire to leave Indiana’s governorship to be Donald Trump’s vice presidential candidate.

The letter looks to Kevin Durant’s piece published in the Players’ Tribune titled “My Next Chapter,” after the NBA star announced his decision to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors.

Tonight, when Pence takes the stage with Donald Trump for a campaign rally in Westfield, he will be sending a clear message to Hoosier voters as he auditions to become Trump’s running mate. Pence’s public campaigning for VP would make it more difficult for him to run for re-election this November if he’s not chosen by Trump.

“Thank you Indiana, for being my stepping stone,” the letter tells Hoosier voters scorned by his decision.

Durant’s letter took a consolatory tone: “I’m from Washington, D.C. originally, but Oklahoma City truly raised me,” Durant writes.

The DGA’s “Pence” letter strikes a similar note: “I’m from Indiana originally, but Washington, D.C. truly raised me,” reads the letter.
