DGA Chair Inslee’s Statement on Michelle Lujan Grisham’s Primary Victory in New Mexico

Tonight, Democratic Governors Association Chair Gov. Jay Inslee (D-WA) released the following statement on U.S. Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham winning the Democratic gubernatorial nomination in New Mexico:

“Congratulations to Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham on her historic nomination for Governor of New Mexico. If elected, Michelle would be the first Democratic Hispanic woman elected governor in American history.

“Michelle Lujan Grisham has a track record of getting things done for New Mexico families, and voters know she is the fighter they need to move the state forward. It’s time for New Mexico to turn the page on disastrous Republican policies that have stifled economic growth and prevented too many children from receiving a quality education. Michelle will make the needed investments in New Mexico’s economy to create jobs and grow incomes across the state, and she will invest in New Mexico’s future by expanding access to education for every child.

“New Mexico is one of the DGA’s top pickup opportunities this election cycle, and I am confident that Michelle Lujan Grisham is the right candidate to bring change to New Mexico.”
