Bevin’s Bad Week (And It’s Only Wednesday)

Latest News

The weekend can’t come fast enough for Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin. He started off his week picking a fight with the General Assembly, dragging them back to Frankfort with just a few hours notice for a special legislative session.
But it was yesterday when Bevin “cemented his place in the history books as the most inept, most arrogant and one of the weakest governors in Kentucky’s history,” according to Joseph Gerth of the Louisville Courier-Journal.
When lawmakers arrived, they realized that Bevin had no plan and “grumbl[ed] about disorganization and a lack of groundwork laid by the governor.” Republicans and Democrats alike rejected Bevin’s legislative agenda after reading it–something Bevin himself hadn’t even taken the time do! It’s no wonder a majority of Kentuckians now disapprove of the job he’s doing.
“Matt Bevin can’t even lead his own party in Kentucky,” said Democratic Governors Association Communications Director Jared Leopold. “In 48-hours we got to see the real incompetence that is the hallmark of Bevin’s reign—failed leadership and an agenda he can’t even bother himself to read. We look forward to seeing what else Bevin will add to his record of failure by the end of this week and the end of his governorship next year.”
