DGA Statement on Governor Dan Malloy’s Decision To Not Seek Reelection

Today, DGA Executive Director Elisabeth Pearson released the following statement on Connecticut Governor and DGA Chair Dan Malloy’s decision to not seek reelection:

“We would like to thank Governor Malloy for his steadfast leadership and service to the state of Connecticut. Throughout his tenure, Governor Malloy has been a national leader on forward-thinking policies. He was the first governor to pass paid-sick leave, the first to raise the minimum wage to $10.10, and he led the way on laws for equal pay, voting rights and gun violence prevention.

“We are grateful for Governor Malloy’s leadership in the Democratic Party and as Chair of the DGA. Governor Malloy is a trusted voice for his fellow governors, guiding a political strategy that helped Democratic candidates win tough races in 2016. Under Governor Malloy’s leadership in 2016, the DGA broke fundraising records, re-elected every Democratic incumbent, and won three races in states that Donald Trump carried. We look forward to Governor Malloy’s continued leadership as Chair of the DGA in 2017, as Democrats gear up for major pickup opportunities in 2017 and 2018.”
