Beebe Wins Democratic Nomination for Governor
Arkansas Can Do Better with Beebe
Washington, D.C. – On the heels of earning the party’s nomination for governor, Democrats across Arkansas remain firmly beside Mike Beebe because he cares about the issues most important to Arkansans. Raised by a single mother, Beebe understands the value of hard work and a solid education. He has served the people of his state for more than 20 years as a state senator and the Attorney General, and his leadership will strengthen the party and help bring Democratic successes to every part of the state. Beebe is poised to be the next governor because he believes in Arkansas and knows it can do better.
“Mike Beebe is committed to making Arkansas even stronger and more prosperous for working families,” DGA Chair New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson said. “Mike is a problem-solver with a proven record of accomplishment. He has a bold vision to create jobs, expand access to affordable health care, improve public schools, and promote alternative energy sources.”
Arkansas voters face a clear choice in November: Mike Beebe, a proven leader who has what it takes to move Arkansas forward or Asa Hutchinson, a former Bush Administration official looking to bring failed Washington policies and politics to Little Rock. One only has to look at this country’s illegal immigration problem to see the type of leadership Hutchinson brings to the table. The number of illegal immigrants coming into the United States grew significantly when he was the border security chief.
By contrast, Attorney General Mike Beebe has stood up consistently for consumers, protected seniors from fraud and neglect, upheld criminal convictions, developed ways to protect children from Internet predators and made Arkansas communities safer and more secure.
“Arkansas has an effective, innovative leader in Mike Beebe, and the DGA will work hard to share his vision with voters across the state and secure victory in November,” Gov. Richardson added.
