Schweitzer Handily Wins Re-Election in Montana
Washington, D.C. – Democratic Governors Association (DGA) Chair Gov. Joe Manchin (W.Va.) today congratulated DGA Vice Chair Gov. Brian Schweitzer (Mont.) on his strong re-election victory.
“The voters in Montana know strong leadership when they see it, and they’re clearly seeing it in Brian Schweitzer,” Gov. Manchin said. “With Brian Schweitzer as Governor, Montana has seen the creation of thousands of new jobs, the state is at the forefront of energy independence, unemployment is among the lowest in the country and wages are growing at among the fast rates in the nation.”
DGA Executive Director Nathan Daschle said, “The people of Montana have reaffirmed what Democratic Governors have been saying about Brian Schweitzer since he took office: his passion, energy, leadership and stewardship will continue moving Montana and the nation in the right direction. We look forward to continuing our work with Governor Schweitzer.”
In January, Gov. Schweitzer will begin his second four-year term.
